I want the name of the period.
1. "The Ideal Brain Tonic.
The Delightful Summer-Winter beverage"
The period is The Great Binge, spanning from 1870 to 1914
the first clue is one of the earliest ads of coca cola. coca cola was actually a bottled drink made of kola nuts, wine and cocaine.
the 2nd clue is an ad for cocaine, cocaine was marketed as an analgesic for children and to treat morphine addiction.
3rd clue is a bayer ad for heroin, heroin was marketed as a non-addictive morphine substitute and cough medicine for children.
4th clue is absinthe, the spoon was the give away. it is the strongest alcohol in the world.
so all of these were extremely popular during this period and eventually government regulations were put in order to stop addiction to such substances. all kinds of famous people from Oscar Wilde to Picasso to Sherlock Holmes used these substances.
